The Last Flight Before Led Zeppelin. The Yardbirds ’68 box set merges archival music design with creative direction, delivering a deluxe collector’s experience rooted in rock history.
Originally recorded on tour during the final American run in spring 1968, including legendary sets at New York’s Anderson Theatre and studio sessions at Columbia Recording – Yardbirds ’68 captures a critical moment when Jimmy Page and the band were forging proto-Led Zeppelin soundscapes. The project demanded a design approach that honoured this rare musical snapshot while appealing to both longtime fans and collectors.
Under the creative leadership of Dave Stansbie, The Creative Corporation delivered a full art and design system across formats: double LP, CD, deluxe packaging, and accompanying materials. Drawing from restored live photography, original ticket stubs, and bespoke typography, the visual identity balances archival authenticity with polished modernity. Textural finishes and careful layout decisions amplify the audio’s raw energy and historical weight.
Working closely with Jimmy Page and the remaining original band members, our team crafted a design that elevates the collection’s storytelling, from the grit of club performances to the transformative studio demos. The result is a tactile, contemporary packaging suite that recontextualises Yardbirds ’68 as both a historical document and a thoughtfully designed collector’s item.
